Mission
The collaboration with Churches and Men in the local community aims to develop a program promoting healthy living, encouraging individuals to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
The No Excuse Global Healthy Living Alliance was created to meet community needs and achieve the initiative's performance goals. Its main objective is to enhance heart health awareness and management through a coordinated healthcare service model. This model focuses on reducing obesity, decreasing high blood pressure and abnormal lipid levels, improving dietary choices, and boosting physical activity among African American and Hispanic adults over the age of 18.
The initiative featured a 14-week competition involving ten faith-based organizations that undertook the challenge to reduce their heart risk factors. These organizations were organized into six teams, participating in a range of activities including media recruitment campaigns, pre- and post-assessments, health screenings, counseling, education, and both individual and group activities.
The No Excuse Global Healthy Living Alliance utilizes a patient-centered medical home model, building on previous collaborative efforts between these communities and ECU Health and Pitt County Health Department. This includes the community health ambassador lay-advisor program.
